表千家同門会米国北加支部設立

５０周年記念式典

表千家同門会米国北加支部は、アメリカ西海岸サンフランシスコを中心に表千家茶の湯を愛好する人々によって１９６９年に発足しました。２０２４年には、米国南加支部と共に両支部設立５０周年記念を祝って５０周年記念行事を開催いたしました。当初は２０２０年の予定だった記念行事は、感染症拡大のために延期となり、４年越しの開催となりました。

表千家同門会本部からは猶有斎宗匠、左海宗匠、小笹宗匠、吉田先生、渡辺先生、山本事務局長がご隣席され、日本からは約２００名の同門会員の皆様が参集されました。また、記念行事の前日には、日本国総領事公邸で、「在サンフランシスコ日本国総領事館&表千家共催五十周年記念公邸茶会」が催され、地元の各界の方々に表千家の茶の湯が紹介されました。

サンフランシスコは晴天に恵まれ、米国支部を入れて３００名を超える参会者が着物でサンフランシスコの町の中を歩く様子は地元テレビのニュースでも取り上げられました。

平和祈念献茶式　

（２０２４年６月１５日）

猶有斎宗匠による世界平和祈念の献茶式がサンフランシスコのハーブストシアターの舞台にて執り行われました。壇上で御家元は平和祈念のための濃茶と薄茶を献じられました。これは北加支部にとって初めての献茶式でした。この日、２０２４年６月１５日が、サンフランシスコにおいて「表千家同門会北加支部の日」（Omotesenke Domonkai of Northern California Day ）とサンフランシスコ市長のロンドン・ブリード氏によって定められ、宣言書が市長代理のグレース・ホリキリ氏より御家元に贈呈されました。これは北加支部の５０年に及ぶ功労を称えられたもので、同門会員にとって大変喜ばしい、記念すべき１日となりました。　　　献茶式の後は、北加支部、南加支部、ハワイ支部、東部支部の会員有志による合同拝服席が、ミントグリーンにゴールドの美しい装飾が施されたグリーンルームにて設けられました。

５０周年記念茶会

（２０２４年６月１６日）

翌１６日に行われた記念茶会は、サンフランシスコ市内三ヶ所に茶席が設けられました。濃茶席は北加日米会会館内にある観桑庵の広間、臨和軒で、薄茶席は、アジア美術館内サムスンホールの大広間で、そして南加・ハワイ・東部の三支部合同の立礼席は、プレシディオ・オフィサーズクラブ・オルテガルームに設けられました。

観桑庵は、茶室や数寄屋建築で知られる中村昌夫氏による設計。小間の直心庵の床の間には５０周年記念のお祝いに猶有斎御家元宗匠から北加支部に贈呈された「和気生嘉祥」の大扇子が飾られました。

三支部（南加、東部、ハワイ）合同の立礼席はゴールデンゲートブリッジを望むプレシディオのオフィサーズクラブに設けられました。ネイティブアメリカンの籠の花入、銀のアンティークの菓子盆など、アメリカならではのお道具が新鮮でした。
